We’re pleased to announce Mule iON public beta, a cloud-based integration platform as a service (iPaaS) that enables developers to integrate and orchestrate applications and services.  With Mule iON, you can integrate with popular SaaS application, cloud services, and social media platforms easily using a library of out-of-the-box cloud connectors. At the same time, you can integrate your enterprise applications as well, using a security gateway that is part of Mule iON.

Start small, think big

Mule iON is an elastic cloud that you can scale on demand, start small and grow as your needs do with no changes to your application. iON gives you a scalable architecture to build integration applications and publish REST APIs or Web Services.

Rock solid platform

Built on our battle-tested Mule integration platform, used by thousands of companies for mission-critical applications, it’s the most widely used platform for integration.

Integrate your SaaS and enterprise applications

The Secure Enterprise Gateway (SDG) provides a secure pipe to the enterprise, breaking down the “cloud silo.” Integrate and orchestrate applications, data sources, and services across the enterprise and cloud.

Unrivaled connectivity

Easily integrate with popular SaaS, cloud, and social media platforms such as Salesforce.com, Intuit, Authorize.net, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, and PayPal. Orchestrate data between these services and the enterprise. The development kit allows developers to create new cloud connectors easily without any knowledge of the underlying integration infrastructure.

Write once, run anywhere

Applications you build on iON also run on both the commercial and open source distributions of Mule. This means you can bring your applications in house and get some of the best commercial support out there, or do it yourself with Mule community edition.

Don’t change the way you code

We use standard development tools to create iON applications. Mule Studio is an Eclipse graphical environment that allows developers to easily switch between using the palette or code. You choose. Rather use the command-line? We support Maven, as well as a command line tool.

Visibility and control

Manage your applications, scale up, scale down, see event traffic from iON’s intuitive cloud console. Manage every aspect of your Mule iON from one place.

Behind a great platform is a great API

Want to automate tasks? or just fit Mule iON into your deployment process? Mule iON has a REST API to perform platform tasks such as managing applications, scaling up or down and monitoring.

Why Mule iON?

Mule is a true developer platform for building integration applications that cross the enterprise and cloud. We’ve built it with a singular focus on simplifying the way you build and deploy integration applications.

It  has been built from the ground up to be scalable, resilient and multi-tenanted. Whether you are synchonizing data between SaaS applications or streamlining your processes across many applications, iON will perform and scale with you.

It’s a platform and a service. First-generation cloud integration offerings were not open and took a point-to-point approach, which doesn’t scale, beyond a few integration points.  Mule iON is based on the world’s leading integration platform, which means its been battle-tested in some of the most demanding mission-critical deployments; you can rely on it.

We know integration. The MuleSoft team have been specializing in this field and have helped thousands of companies get successful with Mule. Mule iON changes the landscape again, providing a true platform for developers. Whether you are integrating SaaS to enterprise, SaaS to SaaS,  publishing  a REST API or creating mashups, Mule iON provides the easiest, most extensible platfrom that with grow with you.

We are super-excited about Mule iON and we hope you feel compelled to give it a go.  You can sign up and get going immediately with a free account. Good or bad we really want to hear your feedback.

How does Mule iON compare with products like Boomi ? Is there anything in iON that allows to deploy EAI processes to on-premise “nodes”, directly from the cloud, without the need to deploy anything but a thin shell onto such remote/on-premise “nodes” ? I’m looking for something that would allow me to centrally (cloud) manage/deploy integration processes that run on multiple nodes, each located behind firewalls.

Looks promising … Keep it up !

@Yan,

Boomi is driven exclusively by a browser-based graphical tool. This means means you are limited to what the tool can to, though it is definitely one of the better tools out there. The goal of Mule is to provide a real development platform where developers can build integration applications using their usual development tools and techniques. This is a key point since Boomi target a “knowledge worker” audience. Also, Mule iON has Mule at the the core which means you can run iON applications on premise or on your laptop. You are not locked into our iON platform as you can always decide to switch to our open source distribution.

Thanks Ross,

Yes, Boomi runs in the browser but they also have scheduled tasks which can launch unattended. But you are right, it is proprietary and not a development platform per say, and this is why I was asking about iON, to see how it would compare.

Actually, Ali posted another article regarding ‘Secure Data Gateway (SDG)’ and I think this may help achieving part of what I’m looking for. I need to be able to run JDBC queries behind a customer’s firewall and have data sent back to some cloud based application.

I will definitely have a deeper look into iON as it does look promising and more open than Boomi is.

Thanks,
