How to renew your Tcat Server license for free development use

Sateesh Narahari on Thursday, May 13, 2010

Tcat Server is the best solution for running enterprise Apache Tomcat or the upcoming Tomcat 7 in IT.  Tcat Server is also a great choice in development environments with its reliable restarts, rich tomcat specific diagnostics and more.  Best of all,  Tcat Server is free for use in development and pre-production.

However, we do not provide a perpetual license for use with Tcat Server in development. Instead, we want to hear from you every so often. We would love to get some feedback on how the product is working for you on the development side and if you have suggestions for improving the product.

Because of this, we ship the product with a license that is time-limited. This does not mean you can not use the product beyond that timeframe. When you are close to license expiration, send us an email at tcat-install@mulesoft.com and we will send you a new license file. How do you know how many days left on your license. Its right on the product. ( see the screenshot below).

All we ask in return is that when you are requesting a new license, provide us feedback on the product. If you have used the product for several months, you probably have some things to say about the product and might have ideas to improve the product. Even if you do not need a new license file right now and have feedback, send it to us tcat-install@mulesoft.com – we read and reply to all of them every week.

Go on and continue using Tcat Server in your development and test environments as long as you want. If you don’t have a current copy of Tcat Server, download it here.
